To promote continuity within our program where players and families are sharing similar, quality experiences by providing volunteer coaches with additional training and support, FMSC is currently seeking a Director of Coaching. The Director of Coaching will not be an employee of FMSC, but will be engaged as an independent contractor. No benefits other than the cost of services will be provided.

Approved of by FMSC’s board, a Director of Coaching will be responsible for the development or adoption and implementation of a club wide soccer curriculum for both travel and rec programs in an environment that is reflective of the mission/vision of FMSC. Responsibilities will include:

• Twice a year the director will conduct a coaches clinic that provide coaches the tools necessary to implement the curriculum with ongoing support throughout the season. The director has the discretion to arrange outside training through approved organizations.
• Twice a year the director and necessary staff will conduct age appropriate skills development clinics for players. Both coach and player clinics for rec and travel programs to be approved by board.
• Will work with event coordinator on additional skills development camps from outside organizations.
• Conduct game or practice observations of all teams once a month and open channels of communication with coaches to address specific training issues.
• Evaluate the progress of players and teams in achieving club goals to report at end of season meeting with board.
• The director of coaching will attend board meetings or provide a report when unable to attend.
• Evaluate local league options for our travel teams spring, fall and winter sessions to determine best fit for each division with a travel committee.
• Provide travel committee and coaches with best fit tournament options per age division.
• A director will provide additional support to coaches facing challenges with player or team development, team dynamic, parent concerns or league placement.
• Address parent or player concerns regarding player or team development.
• Will work with a travel committee to develop a schedule for tryouts. Director will conduct and staff tryouts accordingly.
• Director will assess evolving needs of player and coach development programs and convey to board.
